Human Rights Defenders Fund’s Support for Palestinians who non-violently resist Forcible Transfer in Masafer Yatta    Masafer Yatta is an area of 12 Palestinian villages in the South Hebron  Hills. Recently, after a decades-long legal struggle, the Israeli High  Court of Justice ruled that the area is a firing zone ("918"), exposing  its residents to expulsion to make way for military training,  effectively placing them at imminent risk of forcible transfer.  One of the prominent Palestinian activists who work in the area is Human Rights Defender Sami Huraini, who is on trial for participating in non-violent resistance to the occupation. His father, Hafez Hureini, was recently detained after being violently attacked by settlers.  Einat Fogel-Levin from Human Rights Defenders Fund (HRDF), an Israeli  NGO and NIF Grantee providing direct legal aid to Human Rights Defenders  that represents both Sami and Hafez Hureini will speak about their cases. Also, she will speak of other cases of  criminalization of Human Rights Defenders and military courts.
