Über die Veranstaltung

In December 2022 Benjamin Netanyahu formed the most right-wing government in the history of the State of Israel. Members of the coalition have put forward policy initiatives to weaken the legal system in Israel, promote a de-facto annexation of the West Bank and have launched attacks on members of the LGBTQ+ community, academics, media, and democratic civil society actors. What significant changes can be observed and how do they impact Israelis and Palestinians? What are the responses in Israeli society? What are the ways forward to defend democracy, the rule of law and human rights in Israel?

The New Israel Fund (NIF) Germany invites you to a talk with Shira Livne of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI),who will provide a legal perspective on how the new government’s policies will affect Israel and particularly the rights of Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Rachel Liel, the incoming President of the New Israel Fund, will brief on the challenges that civil society actors in Israel expect, and how we can support them from abroad.

The event will be moderated by Dr. Amir Theilhaber, co-chair of the New Israel Fund Germany. The discussion and the Q&A will be held in English.
